Fundador de la compañía Ilustre-Theâtre en la que se desempeñó como actor, productor y director con obras que recorrieron su país natal. A su regreso a París montó dos de las primeras obras de su autoría: Las preciosas ridículas (1659) y Sganarelle o El cornudo imaginario (1660). Autor satírico, crítico de los hábitos y costumbres de la época, fue censurado por las autoridades para presentar su trabajo en público, hasta que en 1669, el rey Luis XVI le da su apoyo y lo invita a realizar algunos de sus montajes en el teatro del Palacio Real. Tras haber escrito obras ya clásicas como el Tartufo (1964-1669), Don Juan o el convidado de piedra (1666) o El misántropo (1666), entre otras, el 'demonio en sangre humana', como fue llamado por la iglesia católica, sufre un ataque sobre el escenario al representar su última obra intitulada El enfermo imaginario, episodio que lo conduce a la muerte. This is a solo recording of the play, meaning that all parts including stage directions are performed by one person. LibriVox has three excellent dramatic recordings with all the parts played by different people so if that is more to your taste, please listen to them. Little needs to be said about the play itself, a sparkling example of Wilde's amazing ability to poke fun at almost everyone while making you laugh out loud at the witty sayings sprinkled throughout the acts. As to the plot, if you don't know it already, let me just say that it involves two young English men who fall madly and instantly in love with two young English.women who of course love them back mainly because their name is Earnest. Unfortunately, that is not their names and there are many bumps and crashes on the road to the happy wedding bells. I only hope I have done justice to this jewel of a play. Carlos Olmos (Tapachula, Chiapas, 1947- D.F., 2003). Escritor, dramaturgo y guionista. Estudió en la Escuela de Arte Teatral del INBA y desde muy joven participó en distintos grupos teatrales en la ciudad de Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. Algunos de sus guiones para obras de teatro y telenovelas han sido representados en distintos escenarios de México y Latinoamérica con gran aceptación del público. Fue becario del Centro Mexicano de Escritores en 1971 y 1975 y miembro del Sistema Nacional de Creadores. Entre los reconocimientos que recibió por su trabajo están el Premio Juan Ruiz de Alarcón de la Asociación de Críticos de Teatro (1981 y 1990) y el Heraldo de México (1982). De entre sus obras de teatro destacan 'Lenguas muertas' (1974), 'La rosa de oro' (1981), 'Oscar Wilde. El dandy del Hotel Savoy' (1990) y 'El eclipse' (1990). Entre los varios guiones para televisión que escribió se encuentran 'Cuna de lobos' (1986) y 'Sin pecado concebido' (2001). 'Juegos profanos', la pieza de teatro que se presenta en esta ocasión, es una extraña historia de apego y demencia entre dos hermanos. Mientras éstos dialogan, dos testigos se convierten en cómplices de la locura que se apodera de los jóvenes. Esta obra forma parte de la trilogía titulada 'Tríptico de juegos', a la cual también pertenecen 'Juegos fatuos' (1971) y 'Juegos impuros' (1974). Esta versión de 'Juegos profanos' cuenta con la dirección de Eduardo Ruiz Saviñón y la actuación de Francesca Guillén y Waldo Facco y fue montada en la Sala Julián Carrillo de Radio UNAM en octubre de 2013. En razón de la puesta teatral y para respetar el ritmo de la misma, la obra fue montada en un archivo de audio con duración de poco más de una hora. Esto puede hacer más lenta la descarga del mismo.
