En la UNAM ha sido miembro de la Junta de Gobierno y coordinadora del Megaproyecto Desarrollo de Nuevos Modelos para la Prevención y el Tratamiento de Conductas Adictivas. Es directora del Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría 'Ramón de la Fuente'. Forma parte de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, de la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias y de El Colegio Nacional. Entre otros reconocimientos recibió el Premio Nacional de Salud Pública 'Gerardo Varela' del Consejo de Salubridad General. 'Prevenir la violencia' reflexiona sobre el impacto de la violencia en la salud pública y la urgencia de implementar recursos para la detección de problemas de conducta en el sector más joven de la población. La doctora habla acerca de la necesidad de revertir las cifras actuales de homicidio, violencia de género y adicciones, con la implementación de modelos de prácticas de crianza. Esta ponencia fue impartida en el encuentro Conecta 2015.
